The big winner of CTAQ’s 2016 Prix Relève receives the Jean Gattuso trophy
On April 6, CTAQ (the Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Québec) held its first gala evening to highlight the achievements of the young people (35 and under) who are playing a leading role in the bio-food industry.
Three up-and-coming industry leaders were honoured with prizes. Arnaud Marchand, chef/owner of Chez Boulay-Bistro boréal, received the silver award in the SME category (under 500 employees).
In the large business category (500 employees and over) another silver renewal award went to Patrice Légaré, supply chain director at Bonduelle Americas.
The grand prize went to Janick Martin, CEO of Industrie Gastronomique Cascajares, who won the gold renewal prize. The recipient of this prize is chosen from among the candidates in all the award categories. Ms. Martin was given the Jean Gattuso trophy, which was launched earlier that evening in honour of Mr. Gattuso for his involvement in founding CTAQ’s Renewal committee. Mr.Gattuso personally awarded the trophy to Ms. Martin.
As an added attraction the gala evening featured the announcements of the 2015-2016 Bourses Agro : Inno scholarships, designed to foster the development of the next generation of scientists working in Quebec’s food industry. The scholarships are the fruit of a partnership between CTAQ, the INAF (l’Institut sur la nutrition et les aliments fonctionnels) and the Fondation Initia.
In all, nine scholarships and three financial assistance grants were awarded to college students and university undergraduates as well as graduate students in both master’s and doctoral programs.
Our sincere congratulations to all the winners!
