5e Avenue Plant
The Rougemont plant began operations in 1918 on its current site, with a vegetable cannery. Today, vegetable canning has given way to juice production in formats ranging from 200 ml Tetra Paks to refrigerated 2 L family packs.
This 365,000 sq. ft. site contains several production lines for blow-molding polyethylene terephthalate (PET) preforms, including the 2.63 L format with handle, a world first in the food sector.
The plant also has a fruit processing department, handling some 60,000,000 lbs of apples and 25,000,000 lbs of berries (cranberries and blueberries) annually. This sector of the plant is equipped with 3 juice presses, ultrafiltration systems, a 3-effect evaporator, a bagging machine and a sterile storage room with a capacity of 1,000,000 imperial gallons.
