Maintenance Planner
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner will provide support to the maintenance department and ensure that all preventative maintenance programs, projects, and day to day activities are planned, scheduled, and coordinated as required to optimize production runs and minimize downtime.
This position will be accountable for maintenance planning, scheduling and inventory control always considering safety guidelines, quality, and cost control.

Key activities
- Coordinate, schedule, and plan all maintenance activities (preventative maintenance, plant shutdown, and maintenance preparation).
- Participate, support, and/or lead in action root cause analysis, failure mode effect analysis and other improvement exercises.
- Generate, assign, and follow up on work orders and ensure that all required materials are available to complete schedule work.
- Generate analyze various reports and maintain KPIs (planned vs unplanned, backlog percentage, and PM compliance).
- Maintain all aspects for Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Assist in the development of equipment histories and prepare information to import into the system.
- Purchase maintenance supplies, parts, chemicals, and materials.
- Organize and ensure purchase orders are issued, approved and reconciled.
- Maintain and organize stock level of spare parts and general use items while optimizing inventory levels and keeping cost to a minimum.
- Order, sort, and label parts as required, and monitor shipments and delivery.
- Maintain and establish professional relationships with existing and new vendors and contractors, setting up vendor-stock inventory and coordinate planned contract work.
- Provide support in emergency situations to support the safety, continued production, and reliability of equipment.
- Update One Point Lessons for problem solving and ongoing future development.
- Attend management meetings.
- Maintain, revise and update documentations.
- Report all accidents and potential hazards.
Required training and experience
- Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or other equivalent technical program.
- 3 years experience minimum in a similar position.
- Experience supervising and coordinating contractors in food manufacturing industry.
- Technical background and thorough knowledge of mechanical maintenance work processes and preventative maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the food and beverages industry).
- Knowledge of industrial standards, occupational health and safety, and quality standards (an asset).
- Previous exposure to millwright/electrical requirements and PLC programming (an asset).
- Prior experience as a Maintenance Technician (an asset).
Skills sought
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office, AutoCAD, Computerized Maintenance Management System, and other integrated computer software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple task simultaneously.
Specifics of the position:
May be required to lift approximately 30-40 lbs periodically.
